Kinda feeling bittersweet about the whole thing.  I really like how AO3 is put together and how many features there are for authors, but ff.net is where this whole writing thing started for me and now that I have 0 fics there and a very short profile paragraph, it just kinda hurts a little.  Nothing shows up in the traffic stats, I've had fans messaging me the past 2 days asking where to find their favs...

It's all for the best, I just wish I hadn't wasted my time posting all that stuff over there in the first place :(

I hear ya.

I still have a ton of stuff over at ff.net, but I've been hearing how they're randomly deleting fics and I'm just not comfortable with that. Sure, I've got the same pieces other places (including AO3), but there's something sentimental about ff.net.

I had some stuff at aff, ff, I think 1 thing at mediaminer... Ultimately though, my LJ listing has EVERYTHING I've ever written in one place (with links so I can sorta keep all my reviews together). Sentimental is a great word for this.

I had 6 fics pulled and I took down the rest. Been answering PMs from there off and on today about where the fics went. Such a pain in the ass :(

You had 6 pulled?!? Damn! My friend [livejournal.com profile] alchemyotaku75 told me they were pulling fics, but so far I've been spared. Eeek. Did they give you any reason for the removal? Were they just adult fics or just anything - was there something in the description that would have made them target them? No wonder you removed them!

All of them were for explicit content, although I think one was pulled because there was some lolicon kissing or something in it. (If only they'd seen the things I had Mei and Rin doing in other loli fics O____O)

:o That's so weird... I've had stuff on there for years - very explicit - though in LOTR not FMA. It's cross posted in other places, so even if they do delete them, I'm not loosing anything. Still, if six of my stories were deleted arbitrarily, I'd pull all my pieces too! Grrr!

i still pretty much hate everything about AO3 but I have stuff there too (same name as this). A03 is a complete wasteland when it comes to getting feedback

I haven't been there long enough to know yet, but I have 1 review and 1 kudo, so maybe that's a good start? That's one thing I'm going to miss about ff.net, it *is* very easy to get feedback there.

AO3 is buggy too. and yes that's a very good start since seriously if i get one kudos per story it's doing good.

But why not just leave them on ff.net as well?
Just curious. *hugglz*

I thought about leaving the T stuff, but the more I thought about it, the more I just decided transferring it all over would be easier in the long run.

LOVE your icon btw XD

Ah, ok well that makes sense.
=( I just read your 'new' bio at ff.net *hugglz*
I'm with you all, it is a sentimental thing. Lol, I'm no writer but it's got some memories for me too.

Oh! What about Adult Fan Fiction? You no likey there?
Sorry for my nosey-ness >.<
And I'm glad you likey my icon, he's awesometastic!

aff is hard to navigate imo. Nothing will be as easy as ff.net, but unless they put an age filter on and expand to allowing MA content, I won't be going back. Hell I might just start posting everything save for the chapter fics to LJ. Who knows.

Aww. Well as long as we fans can get to your works, I don't care where they are >:3
Lol. But I hope ao3 or whats it called works out for you ^_^

If I might ask, which six did they pull? I have three fics there that could be considered a touch racy, but not explicit and now I'm wondering if they could be on the chopping block next. I have one fic there with a good deal of feedback (and a rec link from another site) and would really hate to see it taken down.

Off to subscribe to your AO3 account! BTW, I go by HaganeNeko there.

an Elricest piece called What Dreams May Come (True), an Al/Mei lolicon piece called Inamorato, I think the Riza/LanFan one, Soul Sisters was pulled... I can't remember them all now, but they were all explicit. What's funny is they left my inuyasha ones with the beastiality AND lolicon in them, and the 4 way one, and the Roy/Riza/Havoc one... I have a feeling they were going through the complaint logs first and then they'll start combing the profiles.

Really, this is a waste of time for the admins there. It's going to take YEARS to get everyone's work checked, and many authors will simply repost work that's been removed. Unless they do a moderation queue for submissions or, put up an age filter and allow MA fics, they are spinning their wheels. Who knows what's going on over there. All I know is my name's Bennett and I'm not innit.

Which is odd, because there's still several NC-17 level FMA fics posted under the M rating that have not been taken down. It's so hit and miss that it makes no sense at all--and makes even less sense that, for the time being, the purges have been suspended.

I get the feeling the admin on ffn is non-existent 98% of the time, and resurface when they feel like they need to make the effort to act like they really care about what's posted there. *sigh* While I know it's a lot of work to transfer everything, AO3 sounds like the best alternative. I feel your pain! It's a lot of work to move everything to another site.

I started to just leave all the fics and let the shitty admins figure it out. But then I thought about what if they banned my account? Because then I would lose all my favs and I would be sad. I did put the AO3 address in my profile so that people could find my stuff, and I'm still getting PMs from fans asking me where to find things. I have one kid who tells me they are too young to access aff.net and asked me if I could copy paste the fic into a PM for them. I said nope, you'll either have to wait until you're old enough or lie on the age thing (which is what I thought most kids did anyways...)

It's all really frustrating, and maybe in time I'll put some of my fics back up over there at ff.net, like the T rated ones but right now I am totally done with them. It's easier for me to post them to AO3 or straight to my LJ fic acct.

(I really must reply in a more timely manner...)

Ah, the kiddies... Yes, the underaged accessing 'adult' content issue; it's part of my beef with deviantART, but that's another story. Like you said, I'm sure they find ways around the age restrictions, although aff boots them off if they find out they're minors. Like you, I'm posting my adult fic mostly to LJ and AO3, and am no longer considering posting anything of any rating on ffn. Maybe if I stopped writing smut I could post more there... Nah. Never gonna happen! LOL!

ffn can play their games, we just don't have to participate!

I know the feeling. My first fanfic ever was posted there and that's where I discovered fanfic to begin with. It saddens me to see it go the way it's gone but I am thinking of making the move to AO3 myself. I have an account there with a handful of fics but damn... I have 76 (was 77 before they deleted one) fics over there... several of which are multi-chaptered... *cries with you*

*pours some wine for both of us* Crying together sounds great. That's where I first discovered fan fic too. such a shame that what started out as a pretty sweet site is turning so sour now.
