[livejournal.com profile] cornerofmadness was in this one (this is twice now I've dreamed about her... weird...) Most of it was spent talking to COM like she was a psychiatrist or something.  But all the stuff I was telling her never happened.  Like I was lying to her about everything.  And the part I remember most clearly was that when my session was over, we went walking through this really old house from the early 1800's and it was supposedly haunted.  I started trying to provoke the spirits and at first it didn't seem to work.  We kept thinking we saw it but somehow I knew the thing we were seeing was not a real ghost.  Then I saw it.  It was a small face, like where a baby's face would be if it were crawling on the floor, but it was an old angry man.  It was in front of this gutted fireplace and I marched over to it and started trying to make it dissipate by waving my hand through it.  It got REALLY PISSED and attacked us.  COM was alright though because she had this talisman that put up a barrier around her, kinda like how Miroku can throw a barrier around himself in InuYasha.  But this ghost like got inside me and started ripping my organs apart.  I was in horrible pain and screaming to the point I was hoarse and COM is trying to help but nothing is working.  Then I guess I passed out and when I woke up COM was gone and I was on a couch with this girl who seems so familiar to me but I can't place her...  I'm sure it's an anime character or my interpretation of one (I'm thinking Orihime from Bleach but the girl had brown hair not red hair).  Anyway, it's the same old house but back when it wasn't old, so it's like mid 1800's or so, but the girl is dressed in a strappy tank top and short shorts.  We go hunting through this house with the spirits showing up as living people and dressed as 1800's looking for nail polish of all things.  I keep asking her how I got here, who she is, what the hell is going on, but no one will tell me anything.  Then I hear COM's voice and she's chanting this pagan prayer and I keep trying to call out to her but she can't hear me.  That's when I realized I had died and was now one of the spirits in the house.

And then I woke up to the phone ringing because my job interview for today had to be rescheduled for tomorrow.  XD I'm enjoying the crazy dreams, they are rather exciting!

that is too fun. Doesn't help if i say I've gone up against the bad ghosts before, does it?

but lying to me, that's not nice :-)

The lying bit doesn't make any sense to me. I LOVE going to my therapist because I can tell her everything and she's not judgmental and I'm really comfortable with her. I would assume I'd be comfortable with you too so why lie? For the record, I'd never lie to you! (unless I was throwing you a surprise party or something but then I'd apologize)

Who knows why we dream the things we dream lol

dreams are crazy and yes you wouldn't lie to a therapist, at least not if you expect it to help

You are probably the only person whose dreams are way weirder than mine. O_o;

speaking of dreams can you tell me what that sleep paralysis is that you get all the time?

In a nutshell, it's when you wake up before your body does. During REM sleep, our brains will essentially paralyze us to keep us from acting out our dreams. For sleepwalkers, that part of the brain doesn't work well enough which is why they sleepwalk. For people with sleep paralysis, it works too well, which is why we are mentally alert before our body catches on to the fact that we're awake. Sometimes it comes with hallucinations (lately mine haven't), a few times I actually had SP AND an apnea moment where I was aware of the fact that I couldn't breathe D: D: D:, and I also had one instance where I was alert, but I could still 'see' my dream. It was very weird.

There's also the type of SP that happens BEFORE you fall asleep, where your body falls asleep before your mind. I get that sometimes too. I really need to work on clearing my mind before I go to bed but I'm just always thinking of SOMETHING that needs to be done or written or whatever, so I'm not sure if that'll ever happen.

I am extremely fascinated with what goes on during sleep. There's sooooo much we don't know and even the so-called experts can only really speculate on some of it.

Since I've been on this medicine I've woken up and could still see my dreams sometimes. SP sounds super scary!! Especially with that apnea moment. My goodness! My mom said I used to sleepwalk pretty bad. Like I could get up, get a drink go to the bathroom and carry on a conversation with no memory of it. Only had one time when I woke up somewhere other than where I'd fallen asleep, and that was in high school.

As for sleep itself, it takes me forever to fall asleep and I sleep really light. Like if I hear the doorknob turning I instantly wake up, no matter how quiet someone does it. Thanks for clearing that up for me, I didn't want to google it when I had someone who knew already.
