FMA Big Bang artwork- story: "Fracture Critical"

This incredibly moving story was written by lynx212 and is a gut wrenching rollercoaster of emotion.  These images were half drawn, half manipulated, only because I wasn't comfortable yet drawing so much.  Lynx has been awesome to work with, and I hope you guys like her story as much as I did!!  As always, view at full size for optimum enjoyment ^__^





'Stepping on the back of his son’s hand Hohenheim forced Ed’s left palm down onto one of the jagged ceramic pieces. When Ed’s head snapped up he said, “I trust I have your attention now.”

Afraid to open his mouth Ed nodded vigorously. His sealed lips were the only thing keeping the scream lodged in his throat at bay.

“I asked you if you’ve learned your lesson?”

Ed nodded again but that wasn’t good enough. The foot on his hand pressed down a little harder and the pained squeal of yes seemed to be what his father was looking for.'

'He and Roy were sitting in the tree outside Roy’s house talking about their upcoming tryout for alchemy regionals. They were certain they would be the ones to represent the school this year especially once they ironed out their final project. The sun had begun to set and as Ed sat there watching it dip below the horizon Roy was watching him. He called Ed’s name and when the blonde turned around Roy finally did something Ed had daydreamed about for weeks.'

'Ed had been over at his house one Saturday and after Roy’s aunt had stuffed them with pie Ed had fallen asleep on the couch. Wanting to prank him Roy pulled up Ed’s shirt with every intention of blowing air on his stomach until it made a nice loud farting sound however what he saw once he lifted Ed’s shirt stopped him in his tracks.

Ed’s stomach and side was covered in bruises.

Not pegging it for what it was right away Roy had quietly asked his aunt to come into the room and when he showed her the woman sighed and said, “So it’s as I expected then.” '



I had another illustration but the scene didn't survive editing.  But since it was drawn for this story, I'll include a link to it anyway, only because I was really happy how it turned out (turning clothed, pony-tailed Ed into naked and freshly showered Ed with a fuzzy towel).

Quite like these ones too! In the second pic is it just me or Roy looks a little smug there, LOL. And the freshely showered Ed one heh that towel sure is fuzzy (I don't have any towels that fuzzy XD ).

Well.... I had a screencap from Darker Than Black that I thought was perfect for manipulating. The only problem was Hei's eyes and his look of shock. I actually turned the shocked mouth around (whcih looking back on it I probably should have just drawn a line...) and painted the girl to look like Ed. And that towel was an experiment in texture painting XD

I giggled at the Hei manip because he is always so straight-faced. Nice work!

It's all right. :3 Instead of making it harder for spammers to make accounts, they make it harder for spammers to solicit you with their accounts (so LJ will screen comments as suspicious that contain links, screen URL's from private messages, etc.). It makes for a whole slew of other issues. ^^;

I love Hei, but yeah, you would need a shit ton of screencaps to find any expressions other than his blank face. XD

well to be honest, that was just a clean up and repaint of an awful screenshot. Most of the work was done for me, but I did a lot of work on, so thank you! I'm so glad you liked it!
