My mom was here and I forgot half of what I wanted to say, so here's the REST of the story!

So at the thing on tuesday, they took my height weight, blood samples, did an exam- everything.  It was like a physical.  They lady told my blood pressure was really good, which is a relief because when I was at my regular doctor's it was high (and I'm already on medication for it, so I was a little panicky about that!).  Official height- 5 feet 3 and a half inches!  That half really counts when you're as short as I am!  Anyway, the nurse who gave me my physical told me that I needed to see a cardiologist because that mitral valve regurgitation might have gotten worse since it was last looked at, and if it's bad I have to have that fixed before I can have the weight loss surgery because apparently it can interfer with how I process anethesia (COM, Sammy, can you verify that?).  Then I have to have an endoscopy (standard procedure) to look inside my stomach, check out the sphincter to the small intstine, check for a hiatial hernia, just have a good look at what is already gong on in there.  They're gonna put me under for that, which scares the bloody hell outta me.  Anesthesia in general weirds me out so ugggh.  Test run for the actual day of durgery for me I guess in that regard.

So- dr. appointments everywhere this month- cardiologist on Wednesday, endoscopy on the following Tuesday, regular dr. for vitals and weigh in on the 22nd, as well as a dentist appointment.  The psychologist hasn't said yay or nay as to whether or not I'm sane or crazy of whatever, I suppose no news is good news.

In the mean time, this 6 month journey is supposed to be travelled on a 1200 calorie diet, high in protein, low fat and low carb.  I'm doing the best I can but damnation is it tough.  I haven't hit the calorie mark yet, I'm mostly trying to switch from high carbs low protein to the other way first.  I figure the calories will be easer to count once I know what it is I'm supposed to actually be eating.  and the more protein I eat the more full I will feel, so maybe it will be a more natural progression.

Still supposed to exercise 3-4 days a week an hour at a time, but I had to skip the Y all last week simply because we were broke and I didn't have the gas to get there without not being able to get to work.

Now that I've eaten a healthy dinner and had my sweet for the day, I'm about to strap walking shoes on and hit the sidewalk to walk this off.

www.sparkpeople.com has a good meal planner that you can set for your target amounts of calories, fat, carbs, protein and water
even choose food prefrences like vegetarian or no pork or no egg or no fish and it's free. Good luck! *hug*

yes a leaky heart valve, which is what the mitral valve regurigation more or less is, could cause problems if they put you under so it might need addressing.

The diet blows doesn't it? That's your basic diabetic diet though I am allowed a few more calories (well not earlier this year when I was on 800 a day to try and reboot the system)

I didn't realize you were a good 6 inches shorter than I am.

Good luck with it all

I didn't realize you were THAT tall! Most everyone is a good 4 inches taller than me anyways lol.

damn this leaky heart! and damn this diet! Having a bad day today- don't know if it's because of the monthly gift I'm having or if it's this cold that's trying to get started.

Thanks, this is so stressful!

haha, yes and most of my friends are about your height. I look like a freaking Amazon when I'm with them.

good luck with it. Oh the hormonal munchies are hitting here too. Looking at the cat and wondering what he'd taste like with some fixin's

It is stressful but it looks like you've got a good handle on it so far.

You're probably right, though he's soft and tender feeling

snort. And I was supposed to be taller based on the those measurements they do when we're kids. I just have really long arms (as in long sleeves never fit right)

I am 5 feet 3 and ~3/4 inches, so I feel you on that height! I may not really be 5'4"' but I'm taller than 5'3"... XD; I feel a little miffed about it I think because I was a taller kid - I was not prepared to ultimately end up short.

It's a lot to get all figured out and scheduled, but I can tell you're really determined, so that's bound to help!

I have to follow a low carb diet too, alas. Do you like tofu shirataki noodles? That's my low-carb food excitement of the moment. I like to eat them with instant curry.

I've never eaten tofu before! My high protein excitement (since I haven't found a low carb excitement yet lol) is maybe half a cup of brain flakes mixed with a thing of greek yogurt with the fruit on the bottom. I had that for breakfast today, pineapple was today's flavor, yesterday's was peach- that is super yummy and lasts a long while in the belly! Will have to check into this tofu thing. Just had tonkatsu at this place around the corner from me and they have tofu, maybe they'll let me try it before I buy it
