I've been watching alot of Ruroni Kenshin and there's a guy in there who's a stoic hard ass leader of this Oniwaban group, guy's name is Aoshi Shinomori. This guy MUST have copied everything about Sesshomaru and applied it to this character. I had to go look the character up because I thought it *was* David Kaye. Turns out it's this guy named Terrance Stone (appeared on Kenshin under the name Terry Roberts)

4 minutes in, he's the young guy in the trenchcoat talking to the old guy.

What do you guys think?

OHHHHhhh, I see now.

>_< I'm such an anime nooblette still. Hey, question: is it typical for these stoic samurai guys to always fall for a young girl? granted this Misao girl that Aoshi is into is 16, but there are flashbacks to when he began training her to be a ninja when she was only 8, and it's suggested they have a romantic link from before he sent her to Kyoto when she was 10.

I have about 30 more kenshin episodes to get through (I've been getting through about 10 a day so far @_@), then I'm gonna do this one series called Bastard (a 6 episode OVA series) and then I think I want to start either Trigun or Cowboy Bebop... Any suggestions? I have a list I keep adding to, these are all series suggested by my guy friends, I'd love a feminine opinion.

Thanks for the information chick, I had no idea it was all that closely related as far as the voice acting goes. I figured they did crossover some, but I didn't know it was to that degree. (snicker, Sess' voice in a barbie movie)

Nothing wrong with being a noob! We all were at some point or another, and it's only those who've been in fandom for awhile cluing us in on how stuff works, that we eventually become un-noob-ified!

Yeah, they are all VERY closely related in the anime voice actin world. Most dubs are done by 'dub groups' by one of only two companies, which are based in VanCouver, Canada.

I'm sure they all know each other VERY well XDDD

Ummm... I don't know if 'fall for' is exactly the right word... But often, there is a younger girl involved in their lives... It's usually to show their softer side/character growth, and make the audience like them, despite what assholes they usually are.

Young girls are a thing of fascination in Japanese Anime, even if it's not a SEXUAL fascination, and most animes will have at least one or two 'token lolis'. Rin for Inuyasha, Yachiru for Bleach (a little girl who was adopted by the meanest, badest, most battle-hungry and powerful characters there is, Kenpachi taichou. He isn't 'stoic', but he's another example of a badass who is 'softened' by his relationship with a little girl.)

Observe:
Sess/Rin (Inuyasha) A hard-ass noble who adopted a young peasent orphan on a 'whim' and later dives into hell to save her life.
Byaukuya/Rukia (Bleach) A hard-ass noble who adopted Rukia even though she was a peasent (as a way to fulfill a promise to his dead wife who was also a peasent and her older sister. Byakuya took a blade to the HEART to save her life.)
Kaname/Yuuki (Vampire Knight) (The Shojo version of the 'stoic' guy, so he's more romantic/open with his feelings when it comes to his 'special girl' than most shonen versions of this archetype) A noble guy who is actually Yuuki's long-lost older bro/fiance, who spends 10yrs manipulating people/situations to save her from evil uncle Rido who wants to kill her, and so they can be together again.)
Vivi/Hana (Hana to Akuma) (A demon who adopts a young girl when she's a baby on a whim, and, now that she's fourteen and has fallen in love with him, he's saved her from the demon king and their relationship is developing even more. She's always been his 'special' girl though XD)

Just the Bleach Example, for instance:

Byakuya/Sesshoumaru shared characteristics:
Noble Birth
Stoic, don't talk much
Arrogant
Feared by most people around them
Despite all these things, his sense of PRIDE and HONOR prevent him from being a 'true' bad guy.
Incredibly powerful (Arguably one of the three most powerful characters in the show.)
Powerful swords that they have personal attachments to.
Adopted Rukia/Rin, (But not as a daughter), both young girls weaker than themselves, and of low social standing, and now devote themselves entirely to protecting those girls, all while still treating them coldly, and never coming out and saying he actually cares about her.
Defeat characters who put her life in jeopardy, and claim that it is because putting her life in jeopardy is an insult to his PRIDE.
Starts off as a 'bad guy' only to later become a supporting 'good guy' and fights against the main bad guy, along with the hot-head hero, despite still holding disdain for said hero. (Inuyasha in Sesshoumaru's case, Ichigo in Byakuya's case)
Motivations often unclear, but usually even actions that seem 'bad' have a 'good' purpose once those motivations are revealed.

As for suggestions... Depends on what you like. Vampire Knight is a fandom that isn't too old, and has a definite ROMANCE aspect going. (Canon loli romance, with Yuuki who has been engaged to him since she was born. CUTE scenes of them kissing when she's like 4 and he's like 8 or so *DAAAAAAAAWS*

Bleach is good if you like more action, but less romance, and you'll probably fall in love with Byakuya, if you like Sesshoumaru.

VK's first season is all about Yuuki and Zero. The next season is all about Yuuki/Kaname, and the rest hasn't been animated, and is only in manga form.

I already spoiled some of VK for you, but even if you know, it's still worth it to watch!

I don't mind, spoilers don't mean anything really to me, I always enjoy seeing the final product no matter what anyone tells me lol. Oh, totally unrelated but I have a sess/rin avatar to give you. I'll send it in a PM so no one steals it! lol

I'm the same way, I don't care about 'spoilers' either. Even if I know the end of the movie, I still wanna watch it!

Okay! Thanks!
