big bang

I broke out my portable drafting table and set myself up with an isometric grid so I can create a proper 3D perspective in proper proportion for my FMA Reverse Big Bang art.  Last time I did pretty well just eyeballing everything, but I kept having trouble with the shadows and the lighting so I think this will really help me out.  I'm actually surprised I remembered how to do the damn thing.  I haven't drawn one in over 5 years O__O

I have 2 ideas of what to draw, but I haven't yet settled on either of them.  However, when the time comes to put pen to paper again, I'll be more than ready.

and what's even worse is today the scene I'm thinking of would require me to do a grid straight on (much easier, but still...)

I wish I could decide already what would be better!

Oh wow that's cool. I wish I knew how to draw. I've always wanted to my whole life.

I had many classes on it in design school. We had to do still life, gridded perspectives (like this one), then there was rendering (a fancy word for coloring) where I learned all about how light and shadow works... None of them were as fun as the 2D/3D class though, where you take a 2D drawing and create a 3D model. That was fun as hell.

And anyone can draw. I had a book when I was a kid that taught you how to break things down into basic shapes. Like an airplane is like a really long oval with more ovals all over it. A train is a few rectangles and a triangular cowcatcher on the front. Like anything else, it takes practice :)

Oh, nice! Looking forward to what drawing you'll settle on!

lol me too! I still don't know what I want to draw. The one I think would be better if I did it for myself because it's in the Braeda/Chris verse and don't expect anyone to write that unless they want to. I'm not going to commission it. The other I think would be much better but I need to draw a 1 point perspective grid, this one is a 2 point.
