1. Clear your schedule for five minutes (or longer if you have time, I'm not gonna turn down more fic).
2. Then look under the cut tag, where you will find ten prompts, all of which are song titles (selected at random).
3. Choose one of the prompts, and - using any appropriate fandom/character[s] (meaning ones you think I might enjoy) - write.
4. Reply with your teeny weeny story in the comments to this post.
5. Repost this in your journal and make your friends write for you!

To Leave A Home

You resolve to leave Resembool, and you’re pretty sure it’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done. You have friends here, you’ve started a family. You’ve found a place where you fit in, well, as much as you can. And yet, you’re going to leave it all.

You’re going to walk away from the woman you think of as your wife, though you never signed the paperwork to make it legal. You’re going to turn your back on your sons, when they’re just babies. You’re leaving behind a friend you’ve known for what seems like most of her life, and her family, one that’s embraced you with open arms, despite how strange you know you have to be to them.

You feel delicate, like you could shatter into a thousand pieces, but you have to keep it together, for Trisha, for the boys, even for Pinako and her family. If you don’t, you could lose yourself to despair, and how would that help them?

You know it wouldn’t. There are things you have to do, before the dwarf in the flask that looks like you destroys this country, the way it destroyed Xerxes. And while you couldn’t do anything to help your own country, you’ll do whatever you can to protect your family this time.

Hearing the giggle of the boys, you look over your shoulder. You take a deep breath, and get out of your chair. It may be foolish, but you don’t want to leave just yet. One more day, you think, just another day with them, you think, and quell the voices inside you that warn you that if you wait any longer, it’s going to be too late.

There was dancing in Amestris unlike anything Mei had ever experienced in Xing. And, as far as she was concerned, no one was better at it than Al (though the skills of her brother- and sister-in-law also deserved mentioning). The sight of other men and women newly acquainted with even the simplest steps of swing made her doubly pleased- her husband was a practiced lead who managed to move her about with equal care on the ground as in the air, all the while managing to make it look as easy as breathing. ...Then again, Mei had seen Al's skills on the battlefield and the training ground. Maybe this was that easy.

And it wasn't just Al's gentle touch and swift feet that made this so instantly magnificent. Mei was a quick learner and the beat of the music was just so enchanting. The fast songs sent her heart racing with excitement, but the slow songs brought on a thrill all their own as Mei looked up into Al's golden eyes and took notice of the soft pressure of his hand on the small of her back.

"How long does the dancing last?" she whispered, half hesitant to upset the moment.

"The band's booked 'til midnight." Al didn't seem to mind the question.

"Then we will dance here until then," Mei decided, "If that's fine with you."

"I don't see why not, but I have the feeling that's not all you want to do tonight."

He was right. "It's not," Mei smiled slyly, "After we are done here, we will retire to our rented room for some dancing of a more private nature."

Al didn't have far to dip Mei for her braids to touch the floor.
