bad day :(

After a 3 day whirlwind adventure of balancing work with government assistance offices and drug screening for the new job, I got terrible news today.  I was NOT approved for daycare assistance, which means I don't have anyone to watch Joey so that I can accept the new job.  Also, I had decided not to take the apartment with the new job (they didn't have any available anyway) and I asked if they could compensate me with $2 more an hour since I wouldn't be getting a rent free place to live, they said no.  So I do not have a new job, and until I see my store manager at Lane Bryant, technically tomorrow is my last day of any kind of employment.  To make matters completely worse, because I won't qualify for daycare assistance by April 30, I won't get a chance to apply for it again for at least 2 years because Kentucky is shutting down the benefit due to budget cuts.  So Joey will have to wait for Head Start (which is free and through the public school system), but he has to be 3 and mostly potty trained (he's not even ready to wear underwear yet).  And speaking on potty training, I got this DVD at goodwill that is supposed to help sort it all out.  It says to look for these signs that your child is ready...  Joey isn't showing any signs at all that he's ready.  I actually shut the DVD off and started crying.  Such a bad damn day today.

I don't really have anything to say, other than I'm considering starting an anime called K, and I want to watch Fairy Tail, but should I read the manga or watch the anime?  Also, anyone up to date with Vampire Knight? I haven't read it in a long time, and I've watched up to the end of Guilty.  I have had the Hobbit for over 2 weeks and I still have not seen it.  Maybe while I'm out of work I can get on that. *sobs more*

I'm in the same boat with you on Vampire Knight, haha. Finished Guilty and stopped reading the manga a while back (I think I stopped somewhere around Chapter 50 or so). Not sure if I want to pick it up again since I'm eh over where it was heading. I was considering K also, but decided on Psycho-Pass instead as two of my friends wanted to watch it (Psycho-Pass just finished last week and it's quite good).

Not to be nosy, but was there any one specific reason you were not approved? I just hate to see this kind of thing happen and I thought I remembered you having some issues with daycare assistance in the past. It just makes no sense to me that the government makes people jump through all sorts of hoops then denies them, thus causing them to be unable to work. Seems like such a vicious cycle.

I wish there was more I could say. All I can offer are hugs. *gives all the hugs*

I've seen both K and Psycho Pass, and can recommend them on entirely different levels: PP is a very mature seinen show, and I liked it a lot, whereas K is this mishmash of silly, brilliant, stupid, annoying and heartbreaking, all served with unhealthy dozed of HoYay. And Vampire Knight manga is a bit nonsensical - I don't know if it's scanlator's fault or what, but it's kind of hard to make sense of what is going on there.

K was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like about it was the animation style, but otherwise it was a really good watch. Bittersweet ending though.

I'm caught up on Vampire Knight. I think it's got a few more to go before it's over, but I've gotten way into that one. Definitely worth reading if you liked the series.

There were 2 main reasons: based on my average hours for January and February, I didn't meet the hour requirements (and won't for February and March as well), and my husband wasn't disabled enough for them to grant it to me anyways. They literally said he had to "have cancer or be paralyzed". I told them Walt is bipolar and has several slipped disks in his back making it difficult to physically and mentally watch a child for the amount of time I would be at work. They wanted me to get a doctor's not saying that he CANNOT watch Joey, not hat he SHOULD NOT watch Joey. That in and of itself is bullshit imo. Thank you for the hugs, they are appreciated!

Psychoi Pass sounds right up my alley then. I have found that I really enjoy seinen series (assuming that Mushishi and Monster are both seinen..) but K sounds great as well. As far as VK goes, maybe I'll wait for the cliff notes XD
