Five favorite anime (in random order)

1.  Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
2.  Blood +
3.  Trigun
4.  Mushishi
5.  Deathnote

Twenty questions under the cut, with pics and vids.

1.  Favorite character in 2 (Blood +)?
Aside from all the obvious favorites (Saya, Haji, Kai) my favorite character is Nathan Mahler.
He is the only one of Diva's chevaliers who realizes that she is not there for his amusement or pleasure, but rather that HE is the one there for HER amusement and pleasure.  And I also secretly suspect that he is actually Diva and Saya's father, an original chevalier to their aunt and their mother's breeding partner.  Besides all that though, he's flamboyant and delightfully GAAAAYY and doesn't take any of Amshel's shit.  I like anyone who stands up to that asshole.

2.  Least favorite character in 1 (FMA:B)? Hands down it's Yoki.
yoki
He's a liar, a swindler, a snitch, and will do anything for a buck or recognition.  It's ridiculous that the only time he was useful was when he was guiding Scar and Winry and the others through the Baschool mines.(BTW, am I the only person who pronounces that town as bah-SHOOL instead of baa-SKOOL? I think I am...)  I think Yoki's purpose in the series is solely for comic relief.  Otherwise I don't see Scar not murdering him within 2 seconds of his horseshit.

3.  Favorite episode of 3 (Trigun)?  Episode 23-"Paradise"

To be clear, it's my favorite and my least favorite.  We see the awesomeness that is Nicholas D. Wolfwood, how much of a bad ass he is, how tender a lover he is, how much he cares for his friends and for Milly... and then he dies pitifully on his knees, sobbing and begging God to spare him.  It's a great well rounded episode for the series in general, but there's no doubt it's a heart breaker.

4.  Favorite season of 5 (Deathnote)? The first.  You get to see this seemingly perfect kid start down the spiral of madness and it's tragically beautiful.

5.  Favorite relationship on 3 (Trigun)? Wolfwood and Milly
W&M
6. Least favorite relationship in 2 (Blood +)? Probably David and Julia. I don't totally hate them, it's just that I don't care much for Julia's personality really, and I think David could do better.

7.  How long since the last time 1 (FMA:B) was watched?  I just watched "Filial Affection" last night!  This is my 4th time seeing it all the way through.

8.  Favorite voice actor in 4 (Mushishi)?  Duh, Travis Willingham as Ginko! (although I also dig Chuck Huber as Adashino!)

Ginko                               Adashino
(lol could they at least smile for a fucking picture!? jeeze!)
9.  Which is preferred? 1 (FMA:B), 2 (Blood+), or 5 (Deathnote)?  FMA:B is my favorite of all series hands down.

10.  Seen more episodes of 1 (FMA:B) or 3 (Trigun)?  FMA:B I've rewatched more times than Trigun.

11.  Be anyone from 4 (Mushishi).  Who would it be?  Well, I guess I'd be Tama, Tanyuu's grandmother.  She's an old woman who's been guarding this library of mushi information while also watching over her granddaughter who's been cursed with a mushi that makes her foot black.  She's sassy and practical and down to earth but she's super intelligent, and I just plain like her.

12.  How to kill off favorite character in 5 (Deathnote)? Ryuk is my favorite character, and I don't think you could write his name in the Deathnote....  Maybe convince him to fall in love with Light and then have him save Light from death?  That's a tough question, meme...

13.  Random quote from 1 (FMA:B).  Oh gosh, so many!  Umm...  "So sorry, I no understand much language of this country!" -Ling
ling

14.  Would 3 (Trigun) and 4 (Mushishi) crossover work?  I don't think so.  I mean, if there were a plausible way for Vash to find his way off that shithole planet they live on and make it to Earth, then yes.  All I know is Ginko can't get to that world.

15.  Ship two characters in 1 (FMA:B) to make an unlikely but good couple.  Oh, you mean like 1st Lt. Heymans Braeda and Madame Christmas?
braedachris
Don't try me meme, I've got LOTS of oddball pairings for this series that totally WORK.

16.  Better cast, 3 (Trigun) or 5 (Deathnote)? Deathnote, despite JYB doing a great job with Vash's role.

17.  Best theme music.  I LOVE FMA:B's themes.  All of them (except the 2nd opener).  This was the first series that I actually really enjoyed the music.  But Mushishi also has fantastic music, and no doubt Trigun's "Kaze wa Mirai" brightens my day.  Actually, Deathnote is my least favorite of the themes.

FMA:B 4 OP ♥

FMA:B 4 ED

Trigun ED

Mushishi OP

18.  Favorite character of all.  Roy Mustang (FMA:B)

19.  Least favorite character of all.  Rem (Trigun)
rem
She fucked Vash up in the head bad.  They live on a ruthless planet where the way of the gun is law, and she tried to fill his head with things like flowers and love and peace.  I understand not wanting to kill somebody if you don't have to, I get that.  And flowers and love and peace are great!  But her idealistic view of Earth and her almost annoying hope that this new planet could made into Earth just pissed me off.  It almost crippled Vash and made him unable to live in such a lawless place.  It's why Knives seemed to thrive while Vash seemed to suffer.

20.  Adaptation of manga? FMA:B had the best adaptation of the manga and really followed closely I think.  I've only read FMA and Blood+ so I can't really say for sure which was the best of all.  I think there were some parts of the Blood+ manga that needed to be played up in the anime (like Saya and Haji's open romantic relationship, the fact that Haji's a little slow on the uptake sometimes because he's so humorless), but I don't think it was the anime's intention to follow the manga in the first place.

Mushishi is a beautifully drawn, wonderfully quiet and gentle anime. It's interesting and gripping without being loud and obnoxious or over the top with action. It's amazing, you would love it :)

That's food for thought. I feel like I haven't even seen enough anime to make an interesting list, but I like reading what other people's favorites are - they give me an idea of what to watch next. Thanks!

I resisted for a long time, but I made a MAL- My Anime List, at myanimelist.net. It helps me keep track of what I've seen, what's worth rewatching, what I've dropped, what I plan to see, as well as manga I've read, dropped, etc. If you wanna see my list (with ratings) I'm happy to share :) http://myanimelist.net/animelist/sonjajade

Oooo! Thanks! (snags)

I've just finished the D. Gray-man manga and the subbed 3rd and 4th seasons. It's another case of the manga being FANTASTIC and the anime being great WHEN they decide to follow the manga. (will they never learn?) I'm just started into Neon Genesis Evangelion. My daughter is also getting me to watch xxxHolic. I've had exposure to a few of the ones you have listed, but there's a lot here that I've never heard of - thanks for the tips!

I forgot to mention it also tracks hentai vids (like Dvine LUV, which is a great one) and hentai doujins (like Warau Kangofu, though I generally use my fakku.net profile to handle the doujin list, which you can find a link to under my links list here on my page!) :D

Ooo! Good to know! I've only read Aquarina-chan's ones, and a couple of others, though I know there's a ton of them out there. I find I like the ones written by women better than the ones written for men, but it's my understanding that doujin written by women (and is het) is harder to find. :(
